Jamie Foxx to host Michael Jackson tribute concert

Oscar winner accepts Katherine Jackson’s invitation.

Academy Award-winning actor and singer Jamie Foxx (Ray, Dreamgirls) will be hosting the Michael Jackson tribute concert on October 8 in Cardiff, Wales, UK, reports Rolling Stone.

The tribute concert, which includes headliners like Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Smokey Robinson, was organized by Katherine Jackson, mother of the pop star who died unexpectedly two years ago.

“Michael was larger than life and I have admired him, honored him, joked about him, but always loved and respected him," Foxx told MTV News. "I hope I honor his legacy in a way that would make him laugh and cry."

The concert has met with some opposition from other members of the Jackson family, including siblings Janet, Randy and Germaine who will not be attending due to the timing. The trial of Dr Conrad Murray, accused of involuntary manslaughter in the death of their brother, gets underway later this month.
