Jamie Foxx to Play Bob Marley

American actor Jamie Foxx will star in the film I Shot the Sherriff, playing the lead role of the legendary Bob Marley.

The actor, who was also the star of the biographic film Ray, will now be playing the raggae star for director Rachid Bouchareb (Dust of Life).  The film is concentrated on the first years of the celebrities rise to fame.

Robert Nesta Marley was born in Jamaica on February 6, 1945.  During his career, he wrote 250 songs, including the successful No Woman No Cry, Is This Love, Redemption Song and I Shot the Sherriff, among others.  Marley died in Miami in 1981.  The singer was 36 and succombed to cancer.
