Janet Jackson cancels Sydney concert

Doctors order vocal rest for pop singer currently on world tour.

Australian fans of Janet Jackson were greatly disappointed when the singer canceled her Sunday (November 6 ) night concert at the famous Sydney Opera House only one hour before she was due to go on, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

The singer released a statement on her website, “It is with regret that Dainty Group announces that tonight’s Janet Jackson Number Ones: Up Close and Personal concert, at the Sydney Opera House, cannot proceed.

“Doctors have ordered Miss Jackson to undertake vocal rest for the next 2 days, so she can complete the 3rd and final show of her Australian tour, this Tuesday night at the Sydney Opera House.”

No replacement concert will be scheduled, and fans will receive a full refund.

Earlier, the singer had cut her tour short to be at home with her family during Dr. Conrad Murray’s trial for involuntary manslaughter regarding her brother Michael Jackson’s death. Today (November 8), the doctor was found guilty and remanded into custody. The singer posted on Twitter: “Justice was good today.”

Jackson had only arrived back in the country on Wednesday, November 2, and performed a concert in Melbourne on Thursday, and Sydney on Saturday. She is due to return to the Sydney stage tonight.
