Jason Donovan is "extremely disappointed" that his and Kylie Minogue’s performance of ‘Especially For You’ has been called off.

The Australian singer expressed his sadness at the decision to cancel the pair’s rendition of their 1988 hit at the Hit Factory Live event in London’s Hyde Park today (11.07.12), but admits the choice, which was made due to adverse weather conditions, "was not taken lightly".

In a series of posts on his twitter account, Jason – who was due to perform the song with Kylie for the first time ever – wrote last night (10.07.12): "Everyone who was heading to Hyde Park tomorrow ….. What can I say …. we are all extremely disappointed.

"We appreciate that you all must be extremely frustrated but please bear in mind that this decision was not taken Lightly. (sic)"

But Jason and Kylie – who were briefly a couple and co-starred in Australian soap opera ‘Neighbours’ – haven’t ruled out performing the song at a later date.

The 44-year-old singer-and-actor tweeted: "Well… you never know, I’m sure we’ll get another chance !! Fingers crossed. (sic)"

The Hit Factory Live event – which also featured Steps, Rick Astley, Bananarama, Dead Or Alive, Sinitta, Brother Beyond, Dead Or Alive and Sonia on the bill – was set up to celebrate the work of songwriters Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman, who had hundreds of hits in the 80s and early 90s.
