Jason Mraz Just Wants to Be an Average Guy

Despite the fact that Jason Mraz fans are multiplying daily, the American singer and songwriter just wants to be the guy who performs at a local coffee shop.

Currently on tour, Mraz revealed that being in the spotlight isn’t a favourite part of his job. After the release of his sophomore disc, Mr. A-Z, the singer took a self-imposed break in order to live a normal life. His goal was to have real-life experiences that would allow him to write songs that people could relate to.

His recipe for success paid off, as his third studio album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things., has enjoyed almost instant success. The album debuted at #3 and the song I’m Yours has been on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 25 weeks, peaking at number 6. Mraz talked to Be Interactive about how he longs to connect with people on a real level. When asked what he’ll do after the tour, Mraz said, “I’ll definitely get back to performing in the coffee shops again. That’s where it’s real for me.”

Jason Mraz will perform tomorrow night (October 15) in Toronto’s Massey Hall before heading back to the U.S. The final show of the tour will take place on December 5 in Miami.
