Jason Priestley’s Drug Trafficking Affairs

Jason Priestley is trying out another career tactic.

Most known for his television roles, Priestley is giving film another try. This time, he is developing the film project Death of a Freerider with producers Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev of Nomadic Pictures (Broken Tail).

According to Variety, the actor acquired the film rights to an article written by Jesse Hyde for Rolling Stone. It tells the story of Sam Brown, a 22-year-old Canadian cyclist involved in smuggling several millions of dollars worth of drugs across the American border, which ultimately lead to his death.

Filming is set for the end of 2010.

The actor rarely lands film roles, although he starred in Hot Tamale with Carmen Electra in 2006, which went unnoticed.

Priestley is expected to direct The Day Santa Didn’t Come next year. Among his confirmed projects is the BBC series The Day of the Triffids.
