The apple does not fall far from the tree. The daughter of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett is a star in the making. Her brother, Jaden Smith, starred in The Karate Kid remake and performed a duet with Justin Bieber on the soundtrack.
Now the 9-year old daughter, Willow Smith, is getting her piece of the action. She was signed by Jay-Z and his Roc Nation label.
The report was confirmed by Jay-Z. Willow’s song, Whip My Hair, leaked online on Tuesday (September 7). The rapper-producer and his new protégée called in to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to share the news.
Jay-Z recounted: "I was like, ‘Man, that record’s a smash.’ And then [Roc Nation partner] Jay Brown said, ‘She’s 9,’ and I was like, ‘Whoa!’ And [then] he was like, ‘She’s Will and Jada’s daughter,’ and I was like, ‘Whoa!’ and it just went from there."
The King of New York also kind of compared Willow Smith to a young Michael Jackson, saying: "I don’t want to go so far, but I can imagine that’s how Mike [Jackson] was as a young kid — he knew exactly what he wanted."
