Jay-Z, the godfather of American hip-hop, has been a part of and produced a string of successful duos. He now wants to sing with Lily Allen at the Wireless music festival taking place in London, England in July.
He wants the singer to backtrack on her promise to take a two-year hiatus from performing.
He told the Newsbeat show on BBC Radio 1 that he asked the young singer to change her mind and perform with him. He said, "I spoke to Lily Allen. I’m trying to get her for Wireless. Hopefully that goes through. I bum-rushed them in the corner where they can’t say no. I know her for a minute. I think she’s a great artist. I respect her. We just haven’t (collaborated) yet."
Lily Allen announced she wants to retire from the music biz for two years starting in March. That’s when she finishes a series of shows with rapper Dizzee Rascal.
