Lopez produced and starred in the film along with Anthony. The story follows the life of Hector Lavoe (played by Anthony), a Puerto Rican singer who comes to America to find fame.
Lavoe found many fans in New York, as well as the love of the beautiful Puchi (played by Lopez). His style was a blend of American and Puerto Rican influences, which resulted in what is now called salsa.
Lopez, 36, explained that it was not difficult to mix her private life with her husband with a professional role for the project. The Love Don’t Cost a Thing singer revealed, “We work in a very professional manner. We met working so it has never been anything that we really think about. We just do it."
