Jack Bunick is suing Lopez and her production company for stealing his idea for the television series South Beach.
Bunick wrote an original storyline called South Beach Miami in 1999. He took his idea to the American television channel UPN, but they never purchased his project.
In addition to suing the star, the man has requested that the series be barred, although the program has already been dropped from the lineup.
Lopez and her production company have not commented on the lawsuit.
