Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez confessed she was heartbroken about the failure of her first fashion collection Sweetface in 2009, and in an interview with the New York Times, admitted it was one of the biggest disappointments of her career.
“That was sad for me,” she said. “I just felt like I never got a fair chance to do it right. And on top of it, I felt like I was trapped in a situation I couldn’t get out of, and my name was stamped on things that I didn’t believe in.”
At that time, the American Idol judge said she “didn’t understand the business well enough” and didn’t feel like she had creative control. Along with husband Marc Anthony, she’s giving it another try as they each put their name on fashion collections for Kohl’s department store.
“The difference this time around is that Jennifer is fully engaged with a company that is professionally staffed to really develop anything she wants, from towels to knee-high suede boots,” according to fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger and a partner in the deal.
“She lives fashion,” said Hilfiger, and “says it’s the most fun thing about getting ready for ‘Idol.’”
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony fashion collections will debut at Kohl’s this fall. Lopez has also recently launched her newest album Love? and its first single On the Floor is currently topping the charts.
