Jeremy Renner: I don’t read comic books

‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ star Jeremy Renner has revealed he doesn’t read comic books.

Jeremy Renner doesn’t read comic books.

The 44-year-old actor, who stars as Hawkeye in the Joss Whedon-directed ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’, has revealed that despite starring as one of the central characters in the Marvel universe, he doesn’t know much about the origins of the characters.

Speaking at a press conference at the Corinthia Hotel in London yesterday (21.04.15), Jeremy was asked whether there were any comic book storylines he’d like to expand for his on-screen character, and he told BANG Showbiz: ”I don’t really read comics so I can’t answer that part of it. I let writers who know what they’re doing do that part of it, I try to do what I gotta do.”

What’s more, Jeremy addressed speculation he was unhappy with his character’s role in the 2012 movie ‘The Avengers’, and revealed he spoke to the director and co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. before returning for the follow up.

He shared: ”I remember talking about, not the specifics of but the ideas of what happens to Hawkeye in this movie with Downey and Joss and Ruffalo.

”There were some very cool ideas and we were able to implement them in this film, which was very, very exciting.”
