Pop star and fashion designer Jessica Simpson is partnering with her younger sister Ashlee to add a collection for pre-teens and teens to her burgeoning fashion empire, reports People.
Earlier this year, Jessica partnered with clothing chain David’s Bridal to introduce a prom collection for the high school set, and now she’s branching out to add youth denim, sportswear and activewear to the Jessica Simpson Collection.
Aimed at the fashion-savvy tween, the new line will include graphic T-shirts, drawstring pants, hoodies, knit tops, footwear and outerwear.
"Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand," Jessica said in an interview with WWD. "I’m excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today’s tweens."
It will be the first time pop star Ashlee, 26, joins her big sister’s clothing label.
"My goal as co-creative director will be to design clothes that will help inspire young girls to express their personalities and creativity through fashion," said Ashlee.
Jessica’s hugely-successful fashion empire – already estimated to be worth $1 billion by the end of 2011 – continues to expand. As well as the new tween division, she also plans to launch new ready-to-wear and career-wear lines this year.
