Given the limited success of her country album, Do You Know, Sony Nashville decided to terminate their contract with the singer.
The news was confirmed by the 28-year-old star’s rep, who added that Simpson had signed with Sony Nashville only to make a country album.
"Jessica is and has always been an Epic artist. She continues to be on Epic’s label," the rep told UsMagazine.com.
Rumours began circulating yesterday (April 7) that Simpson had been cut when her name mysteriously disappeared from the company’s Web site.
