Jennifer Lopez was a frontrunner to become a permanent judge on American Idol. She was in negotiations to seal the deal but the deal fell through. Sources say the Fox network had enough of all the demands coming from the Lopez camp.
A source revealed: "Her demands got out of hand. Fox had just had enough."
The Fox Television network is scrambling to fix its leaky boat after both Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres announced they were leaving after the ninth season.
Fox is now debating whether to return to a three-judge format or take another look at some previous choices. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler is rumoured to be another frontrunner to become a permanent judge.
Mariah Carey is reportedly interested but may be too busy to do it. Her husband, Nick Cannon, revealed his wife is a big fan of the show. He explained: "She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don’t know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do Idol."
