JLS: We will break boy band bankruptcy curse

JLS have vowed to fight off the boy band bankruptcy curse.

The ‘Everybody in Love’ hitmakers – who are worth an estimated £6 million each – believe they have invested their money wisely and are determined not to sink into huge debt when they split in a few weeks.

Singer Oritsé Williams, 26, said: ”Without a doubt we’re going to make sure that we’re not going to go bankrupt five or 10 years down the line.”

The band – consisting of Oritsé, Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold and JB Gill – are confident they won’t follow the likes of Blue stars Duncan James and Simon Webbe – who declared themselves officially broke earlier this year – because they’ve invested in businesses and properties rather than squandered it.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Marvin said: ”Blue aren’t that much older than us, so it’s scary to see.

”I think we’ve been lucky from the very beginning that we’ve learnt from the bands in the past that have been very successful and then found it tough.

”We found success at a time where people are a lot more savvy to the industry and being ripped off – partying hard and buying champagne and all of those cliches.

”We’ve been lucky that it happened to us at a time when we knew what not to do wrong.”

Meanwhile, the hunky quartet – who shot to fame on the ‘X Factor’ UK in 2008 – have already lined up solo projects to keep themselves busy during 2014 after they go their separate ways next month.
