Giuliana Rancic says Joan Rivers’ funeral was ”exactly what she would have wanted.”

The 40-year-old star, who was ”devastated” when the 81-year-old comedienne died last Thursday (09.04.14) after being taken off life support after suffering a cardiac arrest during a routine operation, says the private service at Temple Emanu-El in New York City on Sunday (09.07.14) was ”really beautiful.”

The E! News anchor, who co-hosted ‘Fashion Police’ with the late star, said: ”It was exactly what she would have wanted.

”Joan said in her book [‘I Hate Everyone…Starting With Me’] that she would want lights, camera, action and people lined up outside and paparazzi, and she got it.”

She added: ”There were tears, there wasn’t just laughter, there was roaring laughter, and there were such funny moments. We were hysterically laughing with tears streaming down our face. It was great, really beautiful, touching.”

The ‘Giuliana & Bill’ star says Joan was funny until the end.

She said: ”After all these years, she still found the funny in everything.”

Meanwhile, both State Health Department and the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office are still investigating the cause of Joan’s death, after failing to determine how she died in a preliminary autopsy.

Medical sources told The New York Daily News that a biopsy on Rivers’ vocal cords was carried out by a doctor who accompanied her to the Yorkville Endoscopy, and she was placed under general anesthesia.

But the clinic denies ever having performed the procedure at their facility and added: ”General anesthesia has never been administered at Yorkville Endoscopy. The type of sedation used at Yorkville Endoscopy is monitored anesthesia care. Our anesthesiologists utilize light to moderate sedation.”
