John Belushi’s life on the big screen

A film is in the works about the life of the late John Belushi.

The Hollywood Reporter says a film is in the works about the life of John Belushi. The comedian-actor died in 1982 of a drug overdose when he was 33 years old.

Warner Bros. bought the rights to the story from John Belushi’s estate. His widow, Judith Belushi Pisano, will be an executive producer on the film. She published a book on her late husband in 2005 entitled Belushi.

A description of the book sums up Belushi’s life at the time of his death: "On the day he turned thirty, John starred in America’s number-one movie (Animal House), starred in the number-one late-night show (Saturday Night Live) and had recorded the number-one album (Briefcase Full of Blues). All from a guy who was never supposed to make it out from behind the cash register of his family’s Chicago diner."

Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) is reportedly in the running to play the role of Belushi.

Steven Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness) will write the script and Todd Phillips (The Hangover) will produce.
