John Galliano is tipped for a job at Maison Martin Margiela.

The 53-year-old fashion designer – who was fired from Dior in 2011 for making racist slurs outside a Parisian café – was recently given a second chance in the industry with a job at Russian cosmetics company L’Etoile and is now rumoured to be planning a move to the esteemed Parisian-based fashion house.

It was reported earlier today that he had already entered into talks with Margiela to design a couture line for the luxury brand.

A source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column:  »Galliano has been talking to Margiela to take the brand into haute couture. He has already hired five or six staff members for his atelier in Paris. »

John hasn’t kept quiet about his desire to return to fashion design and insists he has so much more to offer to the industry.

He previously said:  »I have yet to design my best collection.

»The new Galliano will be even bigger and better… I love working, it’s my therapy. I can draw until four in the morning every night and not feel tired… I’ve come face to face with my demons, medicine and alcohol. I have rebuilt myself again. »

However, Renzo Rosso – who is acting president of OTB, the company which acquired Maison Martin Margiela in 2002 – rubbished rumors the shamed designer was set to join the company but didn’t rule out a collaboration with him in the future.

He said:  »Who wouldn’t like to work with him? If he ever got back his name, I would be the first to produce his collections. »
