Christian Dior’s creative director, John Galliano, is following in the footsteps of designer Karl Lagerfeld. He will soon receive the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur in France.
Galliano received the good news more than a year ago and he will finally receive the honour from French President Nicolas Sarkozy on June 23.
Galliano is a close friend of Sarkozy’s wife, French singer Carla Bruni.
This honour pays tribute to Galliano’s 14 years of creating for the house of Christian Dior, as well as the work he has designed under his own name.
John Galliano was also made a Commander of the British Empire, an honour he received from Queen Elizabeth II.
Karl Lagerfeld received the Légion d’honneur on June 3 at the Élysée Presidential Palace. He found out about the tribute just minutes before his show at Paris Fashion Week.
