John Lennon’s solo catalogue remastered

Yoko Ono wants to bring her late husband’s music to a whole new generation.

It’s one of those times many people remember vividly, the moment they heard that John Lennon had been shot and killed by John Chapman outside his NYC home. The date was December 8, 1980.

John Lennon would be celebrating his 70th birthday on October 9 this year.

His beloved wife and partner-in-crime, Yoko Ono, wanted to mark the occasion and decided to reissue Lennon’s solo work.

The catalogue consists of eight albums and other titles. Ono, in collaboration with EMI, gave a team of engineers the task of remastering all the songs created by this 20th century icon.

Ono shares her thoughts: "I hope also that those who are already familiar with John’s work will find renewed inspiration from his incredible gifts as a songwriter, musician and vocalist and from his power as a commentator on the human condition."

She goes on to add: "His lyrics are as relevant today as they were when they were first written."

The music will be available around Lennon’s birthday in CD form and online.
