John Tavares, of all people, saves the Islanders’ season

John Tavares, possibly the most hated man in New York Islanders’ history, may have just saved the Islanders’ 2022-23 season.
You see, the Islanders are in a cut throat battle with the Florida Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins and need all the help they can get from those teams’ competitors. Enter: Tavares and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
You see, the Islanders already dropped a decision to the Washington Capitals this evening when the Panthers entered OT tied 1-1 with the Leafs. If the Panthers could earn an extra point with an OT or shootout victory then they would have officially clinched the final Wild Card playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
But… Tavares made sure that would happen for his old team:
And just like that the Islanders have some life breathed into them thanks to their former captain.
