Johnny Depp to star in The Thin Man remake?

Actor wants to team up with Pirates director, Rob Marshall.

Popular film star, Johnny Depp, is hoping to bring director Rob Marshall (Chicago, Nine) onto his team for a remake of the popular film series, The Thin Man, reports vulture.com.

The original 1934 film, starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as the sleuthing, cocktail-swilling couple Nick and Nora Charles, combined screwball romance with mystery.

Based on the Dashiel Hammett novel of the same name, The Thin Man spawned five sequels and a television series.

Depp is also interested in making a film inspired by the TV series, Dark Shadows, with Tim Burton. Director Rob Marshall may also be in the running to bring the popular musical, Wicked, to the big screen.

Johnny Depp, 47, will soon finish his fourth film of the hugely popular Pirates of the Caribbean series, which will be released in theatres May 20, 2011. His latest film, The Tourist, co-starring Angelina Jolie, opens in theatres December 10.
