Jonas Brother to star in musical

Nick Jonas joins cast for new production of Hairspray.

Teen pop star Nick Jonas – of Jonas Brothers fame – is branching out into musical theater this summer with a starring role in the Hollywood Bowl production of Hairspray.

Jonas will star alongside other celebrities, including television actor John Stamos (Full House), classic pop singer Darlene Love (He’s a Rebel) and High School Musical alum Corbin Bleu.

In the new production – which runs from August 5 to 7 – Jonas will play teen heartthrob Link Larkin… a role with quite a history. Larkin was played in the original Broadway cast by Glee‘s Matthew Morrison and was portrayed in the 2007 film adaptation by Zac Efron.

"I am so excited to play Link Larkin in Hairspray at the Hollywood Bowl in August. Who’s gonna come?" Jonas wrote on his Twitter.

This won’t be the first time he sets foot onstage for a musical. Last year, Jonas made his West End debut playing the role of Marius in the London production of Les Miserables.
