Brewster will have the lead role in the New Line Cinema film, which begins shooting in the next few months. The movie is expected to be in theatres by the fall of 2006.
Jonathan Liebesman (Darkness Falls) will direct the project, which was written by David Schow.
The prequel will reveal the origins of Leatherface, the monster of the massacre.
