Josh Groban moves to the big screen

Singer Josh Groban makes his acting debut in a comedy starring Steve Carell.

Singer Josh Groban and actress Marisa Tomei join the cast of a new Warner Bros. as-yet-named comedy.

According to Variety, they are part of quite a diverse cast that includes Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Annaleigh Tipton.

Carell will play a man whose wife (Moore) wants a divorce. To save their marriage, he hires a life coach (Gosling) to give him a makeover. Bacon will play one of Moore’s work colleagues with whom she has an affair.

Tomei plays the role of the first woman Carell meets after his transformation. Groban will play the boyfriend of one of Tomei’s daughters (Emma Stone).

Dan Fogelman (Bolt) wrote the script that will be directed by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (I Love You Phillip Morris). Filming has already started.

Carell is producing the film with Denise Di Novi through their company, Carousel Productions.

This will be the first time fans can check out the acting chops of singing sensation Josh Groban.

In other news, Marisa Tomei stars with Jonah Hill and Catherine Keener  in Cyrus which opens in theatres on July 9. She will also shoot Salvation Boulevard soon with Jennifer Connelly and Pierce Brosnan.
