Joss Stone Wants Her Freedom

Singer Joss Stone wants to get out of her contract with EMI.

The singer wants to break her agreement with EMI, because she feels that she is being victimized by the company.

Stone, who was expected to release her album Colour Me Free, prefers to do so on her own terms rather than complying with EMI, whom she doesn’t trust anymore.

EMI was acquired by a private equity company in 2007, and next made budget cuts to resume operations.

The 22-year-old artist, who is well known for her soulful, raspy voice, is convinced that her label will not effectively promote her album, and is ready to pay 4 million dollars to get out of her deal and conduct business on her own.

On the contrary, the record company claims that Stone has not respected their contract, after failing to deliver the album by the December 2008 due date.
