Julia Roberts To Star in The Friday Night Knitting Club

Actress Julia Roberts will star in the film The Friday Night Knitting Club.

According to Variety magazine, Roberts will play the lead role in the Universal Studios production.  The story is based on an upcoming novel from Kate Jacobs.

The Mona Lisa Smile star will play a single mother who owns a knitting boutique in Manhattan.  Each week regulars gather to talk about life while they knit.  Soon they realize that their meetings are much more than a crafting experience.

Roberts, 39, will produce the film in collaboration with Christine Peters (How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days).  The names of the director and script writer have not been announced.
