Julianne Moore for Talbots

Kids Are All Right actress signs on to model for American fashion retailer.

Fashion retailer Talbots has released the first images of its new spring 2011 ad campaign featuring Kids Are All Right actress Julianne Moore, reports People.

Michael Smaldone, chief creative officer for the brand, said that they choose Moore because she "exemplifies everything we want as the face of the brand. She’s a very active, beautiful, soulful woman."

Photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the shoot took place in a greenhouse, with the redheaded actress surrounded by an array of plants,.

"We have this lush, traditional setting, and Julianne is in the middle of it. She’s strong, confident, and very modern. And it’s very ethereal and sensual," said Smaldone.

According to Smaldone, he wasn’t the only one pleased with how the shoot turned out: Moore also expressed her approval. "She commented several times that it wasn’t the Talbots she knew or remembered." he revealed to InStyle. "She said, ‘If this is the new Talbots, count me in!’"

Talbots was first established in 1947 by husband and wife Rudolf and Nancy Talbot, and in 2009, it underwent a period of rebranding.

"Of course, Talbots still stands for classic American sportswear, but now there are things that [Moore] would wear," noted Smaldone. Talbots operates outlets throughout the U.S., and currently has 17 stores across Canada.
