I don’t need to draw you a picture. We’re all familiar with Juraj Slafkovsky’s current situation with the Montreal Canadiens.
Almost everyone recognizes that he’s having a tough time.
The Canadiens’ head coach was therefore asked if there was any possibility of the youngster joining the Laval Rocket for the sake of his development…
And the answer given by Martin Saint-Louis is quite simple.
The idea of him being sent to the AHL is simply not on the table right now with CH management :
Martin St-Louis was asked about the possibility of Juraj Slafkovsky being traded to the Rocket…

In a recent article, Arpon Basu wrote that, in his eyes, the Habs are open to Slafkovsky being demoted to the AHL if things continue to go badly for him.
That said, to hear the coach talk… It may not seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon.
If Slafkovsky stays with the big club, he should at least have the opportunity to play on another trio. Because with Alex Newhook and Josh Anderson, we’ve all seen how it doesn’t work.
It’s simple: this is the trio that gives the Flanelle head coach the least.
The Newhook line has an 8 Corsi.
*For those who aren’t familiar with Corsi, this is a number not out of 10, but 100.
So, suffice it to say, not a super night for the line.

If not… The Canadiens have to accept the idea of sending their youngster to the World Junior Championship at Christmas to give him a chance to regain his confidence.
Slovakia should have a good club this year with Filip Mesar, Dalibor Dvorsky and Simon Nemec (on defense)…
And if Slaf has the opportunity to defend his country’s colors by playing an important role and putting in big minutes on the ice, it can only help.
There’s a certain risk that he’ll get injured… But there’s the same risk when playing in the NHL. And in any case, the kid isn’t bringing much to Martin St-Louis’ line-up at the moment.
The issue is the talk of the town right now, and it won’t stop as long as the kid continues to struggle in the NHL.
After all, we’re talking about a first overall pick who simply doesn’t seem ready for the big leagues. At some point, the Habs will have to stop closing their eyes and realize that they’re not helping their young player right now.
