Justin Bieber at MTV VMAs

The MTV Video Music Awards are preparing for a dose of "Bieber fever."

What a difference a year makes. MTV News reports Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber will perform for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards. Another first timer will be rapper B.o.B.

16-year old Justin Bieber talked about his upcoming performance. He said: "I’m excited to be performing at the VMAs. It is all still unbelievable, because last year I went for the first time and no one knew who I was."

Justin Bieber is up for Best New Artist. He gave a shout out to his fans, saying: "Just really shows that dreams can come true and what incredible, dedicated fans I have. I’m a lucky guy and grateful. Now I just want to get on that stage, have some fun in front of my heroes, because at the end of the day I’m still a kid and still a fan."

Other artists scheduled to perform include Kanye West, Drake and Florence and the Machine. More performers will be announced in the weeks to come.

The MTV Video Music Awards will air live on September 12 at 9 pm from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
