Justin Timberlake sells all of his songs and gets $100M richer in the process

Justin Timberlake has sold his music rights to a British firm for $100M.

According to theWall StreetJournal, the singer-songwriter hits the jackpot by selling his music catalog toHipgnosis Song Management. This company has been very active in recent months, after buying themusic rights of Shakira and Neil Young, among others.

Justin Timberlake, 41, is giving up full ownership and control of some 200 songs he has written or co-written during his career as leader of the boy band NSYNC, as a solo artist and for film scores.

The new deal is one of many that have come about in recent months as many artists pocket tens of millions of dollars for their music.

Among the other stars who have recently paid for their rights areBob DylanSting, John Legend, David Bowie, ZZ Top, Tina Turner, Lindsey Buckingham fromFleetwood Mac,Blondie,Enrique Iglesias,Stevie Nicks,Barry Manilow andTimbaland.

Despite his $100 million (US),Justin Timberlake is still far from the record for music rights sold belonging to Bruce Springsteen. The Boss found a buyer for $500 million last December.
