Kanye West has not debuted anything new on MTV since his now infamous tirade at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Some wondered whether the network had instituted an unofficial ban.
Ann Doyle is head of music and talent at MTV. She told Reuters there was "no beef" with the rapper.
Now the video for West’s single Painting of Power will air on MTV tonight (August 5) right after the popular reality show Jersey Shore. West describes his latest offering: "It’s not a video…it’s a painting."
Doyle also commented: "We’ve always been supporters of his art and his music, and we’re excited to partner with him, whether it’s his new painting or new album."
Kanye West shared his new attitude with the crowd at his recent Singapore concert. He freestyled: "I’m so sorry to y’all, everyone one of y’all that had to fight for my name/ Everyone of y’all a year ago that I made feel ashamed. I am the one to blame, and the people that I let down, I wanna tell you, right here, right now that I’m a new man and understand my position of power."
