Kanye West feels ‘positive’ about his future in fashion

Rapper turned designer Kanye West has confessed he considers fashion part of his ”spirit” and is feeling ”positive” about his future in the industry.

Kanye West is feeling ”positive” about his future in the fashion industry.

The rapper turned designer – who debuted his new line of Yeezy Boost trainers for Adidas Originals at New York Fashion Week in February – has admitted he ”really appreciated” the praise he received from fellow designer’s following the show.

He said: ”I feel very positive about the future. People are starting to recognise and just give me a chance to be looked at, respected and a part of the conversation.

”I really appreciate that my collection at New York Fashion Week was accepted positively. The moment I saw [Lanvin designer] Alber Elbaz he patted me on the back and said, ‘Keep going’. It’s important to believe and it’s equally important to pay your dues.”

The ‘Stronger’ hitmaker insists ”nothing” is going to stop him from continuing to explore his passion for fashion as he feels it is part of his ”spirit”.

He said: ”Fashion is something that’s in my heart to do – in my spirit. There’s no world that can stop me from what I love. Not the rap world, not the fashion world, not the real world.”

Kanye added that while he never really saw himself designing clothes in his teens, he always knew fashion was something he ”wanted to be around”.

He told Paper magazine: ”When I was working at the Gap at 15, I don’t think I had any desire to actually make clothes, but I always felt like that’s what I wanted to be around. I loved the fabrics, I loved the colours, I loved the proportions.”
