Karl Lagerfeld sets sights on Karléidoscope

New fragrance follow up to Kapsule.

German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld will launch a new signature fragrance, Karléidoscope, this September, reports Vogue.

The ultra-feminine fragrance includes notes of violet, patchouli, angelica, freesia and heliotrope. Meant to create an almost psychedelic olfactory sensation, the scent is designed to smell differently depending on each woman who wears it.

The unusually-named Karléidoscope is a follow-up to Lagerfeld’s successful perfume trio, Kapsule, which the designer launched three years ago.

Italian model Bianca Balti – a longtime Lagerfeld collaborator – has been chosen as the new face of the fragrance and will pose for the upcoming ad campaign. For several seasons, the 27-year-old Balti has appeared in runway shows for Chanel, where Lagerfeld is creative director.

The designer also recently photographed Balti for the 2011 Pirelli Calendar – a prestigious trade calendar published by Pirelli U.K.

Although Lagerfeld is best known as head designer and creative director for Chanel, he is also creative director of Fendi and helms his own haute couture label. He is also a photographer, shooting annual campaigns for Chanel, Fendi and his own label.

The designer recently unveiled a limited edition discount collection created in partnership with U.S. department store Macy’s. The Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse collection launches August 31 and will only be available for six to eight weeks.
