According to Variety, Katherine Heigl (Grey’s Anatomy) will play the main character in the drama Escape, as well as help out with production.
Escape will be an adaptation from the memoirs of Carolyn Jessop. She was born in the crux of a religious movement by the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints.
At 18, she married a man 32 years older than her. At 35, she managed to flee the sect with her eight children. Her testimonies led to the conviction of Warren Jeffs, head of the polygamous movement.
Katherine Heigl is currently shooting the romantic comedy, The Ugly Truth, which will be in theatres on April 3, 2009.
