According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bates, 58, joins a cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, David Harbour and Michael Shannon. Revolutionary Road will be directed by Sam Mendes.
Bates will play Mrs. Givings, a woman who sells her home to a young couple and introduces them to her Connecticut town. Problems arise for the couple out of jealousy.
The film is based on a novel by Richard Yates.
