Katie Holmes grows up with Ann Taylor

Dawson’s Creek actress has come a long way from her Joey Potter tomboy role.

Clothing retailer Ann Taylor is launching the long-awaited spring 2011 campaign featuring Dawson’s Creek star Katie Holmes, reports Voici. Holmes has come a long way from her tomboy role as Joey Potter in the popular former TV series.

The partnership was first announced in January and now the first images are surfacing of what is reported to be a very elaborate campaign.

According to Kristen Rawson, the brand’s style director, the new fashions are inspired by the artwork of Frida Kahlo and Mexican architecture. The summery line includes white sundresses and maxi dresses, skirts and khaki button-down tops.

"There are creamy separates, soft silks and color-soaked dresses and tops, as well as a full accessory line," explained Rawson.

"I’ve been a fan of Ann Taylor since I was a young girl," said Holmes of the brand. "I grew up loving the clothes… and am really excited to be the face of Ann Taylor for the spring season. I am thrilled to be part of a brand I believe in."

Holmes succeeds previous brand ambassadors Heidi Klum, Milla Jovovich, and Naomi Watts.

"We are thrilled to have Katie as the face of Ann Taylor," said Christine Beauchamp, company president.

"Katie personifies the Ann Taylor brand – smart, talented, incredibly chic, and living a full life with beauty and grace. We admire and respect Katie for her intellect, kindness, and enduring personal style."
