Katy Perry crashes prom

High school students in Melbourne had the prom night of their dreams.

Singer Katy Perry set tongues a-wagging last Friday night (August 13) in Australia. She was staying at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne when she heard her hit song, California Gurls, being played in the hotel ballroom.

Well, it turned out to be a lucky night for students from the all-male Melbourne High School. Perry decided to crash their prom and gave an impromptu performance. She entered through a back door, grabbed a mic and started singing and dancing to Beyoncé’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).

Students were flabbergasted. One student set the scene: "It was towards the end of the night and everyone was having a good time. Then Katy Perry decides to walk in and crash our formal!’

Another student continued the story: "She appeared slightly drunk and was stumbling a little… She was dancing and laughing with students until the end of the song when she was subtly whisked away by her security guards. Everyone went nuts and it was the perfect ending to our evening."

Her 10-minute interlude will no doubt provide lifelong memories for these students. She enjoyed herself, too. She later posted a message to Twitter: "totes just crashed a prom! (Sic)"
