Katy Perry recently talked about a job she hated before becoming a pop star. The California Gurls singer told The Guardian about getting a job as a talent scout.
Like many musicians out there, Katy Perry was forced a find a job while trying to build a career in the music biz. She got hired in "the artists and repertoire department at independent label Taxi Music".
Perry describes her situation back in the days before stardom came knocking: "Having no money, writing bad cheques, renting a car after two cars had been repossessed, trying to give people constructive criticism and hope, when really I wanted to jump out of the building or cut my ears off and say, ‘I can’t help you! I can’t catch a break. What am I gonna say to you? And you sing off tune.’"
These days, Katy Perry is engaged to be married to British comic Russell Brand. She has won several awards and currently has one of the hit songs of summer 2010, California Gurls, featuring Snoop Dogg.
