Katy Perry may break another record

New single from Teenage Dream could be album’s sixth song to top the charts.

Already the woman with the most number one hits from a single album, pop star Katy Perry is looking at breaking another world record by releasing a sixth single off her third studio album, Teenage Dream, reports Billboard.

Currently with five singles all taking a turn in first place on the Billboard Hot 100, Teenage Dream is tied with Michael Jackson’s 1987 album Bad for having the most number one hits from one album. If The One That Got Away makes it to the top of the list, Perry will be the first artist in history to have six tracks from a single album all make it to number one.

Greg Thompson, an executive with Perry’s label, insists that the decision to release a sixth single is not driven by the desire to break a record, but rather Perry’s fondness for the song and its chances at succeeding commercially.

"If it goes to number one, that would be great," said Thompson. "If not, we still have a Katy song on the radio in fourth quarter."
