Katy Perry ties with Michael Jackson for top hits

Second artist in history to have 5 number one singles from same album.

As her hit single, Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), slides into the top spot, pop star Katy Perry is now tied with Michael Jackson for having the most number one singles all from one album, reports MTV.

Jackson’s 1987 album Bad spawned five top tracks on the Billboard Hot 100. Now with California Gurls, E.T., Teenage Dream, Firework and Friday Night all taking a turn at number one, Perry’s third studio album Teenage Dream has tied with Bad – making her the first woman in Billboard’s history to have five top hits and the only living artist with the honor.

"What a way to wake up! SO proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song ‘LAST FRIDAY NIGHT’ is officially #1 & made HISTORY!" Perry wrote on Twitter yesterday (August 17).

She continued: "& u know, I couldn’t have done it with out ya, really I owe u guys BIG… so take this moment to give yourself a high FIVE!!!"

Friday Night has sold over two million copies since it debuted on June 6. A remixed version, featuring Missy Elliot, dropped on August 8.
