Singer Katy Perry was invited to be an American Idol judge for one day this week. People reports that it was enough for her to consider putting her career on hold to be a permanent judge alongside Simon Cowell, Randi Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi.
The star revealed that it was an amazing experience, “If I was offered that job as a permanent host, I would ditch my career and take on that career.”
She nevertheless admits that this work would become increasingly difficult for her over the course of the competition. “I guess the pressure gets really on when you start eliminating the number of people that are going through. Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, and then you’ve got the final two. That can be kind of tense and stressful,” she adds.
Paula Abdul left her judge’s chair on American Idol last August. She was replaced by Ellen DeGeneres. Simon Cowell has also decided to follow his colleague. He announced more than a week ago that he will leave his chair after the current season to concentrate on the U.S. version of his show The X Factor.
Katy Pery announced at the beginning of January that she accepted boyfriend Russell Brand’s marriage proposal. He popped the question on New Year’s Day while they were travelling in India.
