Variety reports that Keanu Reeves will play in the epic film, 47 Ronin, for Universal Pictures.
The film is based on a true story about a group of samurais, who seek revenge for the death of their master in 18th-century Japan. Reeves will be one of the samurais, who are still remembered today for their past exploits.
The film will mix fantasy elements, such as those in The Lord of the Rings, and combat scenes, along the same lines as Gladiator.
Chris Morgan, co-author of Wanted and writer behind Fast & Furious, is responsible for the 47 Ronin script.
