Keira Knightley in a Psychiatric Hospital

Keira Knightley will be starring in The Talking Cure, directed by David Cronenberg.

The Guardian recently reported that Knightley will star in The Talking Cure, directed by David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises).

The Talking Cure is a movie adaptation inspired by the play of the same name, written by Christopher Hampton. The actress will play the role of Sabina Spielrein, a Russian Jew who is committed to a psychiatric hospital. Spielrein served as the subject of some of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud’s most notable discoveries on psychoanalysis.

The role of Jung will be played by Michael Fassbender and that of Freud, by Christophe Waltz. The two actors were seen in this year’s box-office hit by Quentin Tarantino, Inglorious Basterds.

The movie is set in the psychiatric facility of  Burgholzli, near Zurich, in 1904. The story centres around the relationship between Spielrin and Jung.

Knightley will star in several films in 2010, such as London Boulevard with Colin Farrell and Never Let Me Go with Charlotte Rampling. Release dates have yet to be confirmed. As for her film Last Night with Sam Worthington and Eva Mendez, it is set to be released in selected theatres on March 19, 2010.
