Clearly, Keira Knightley has an affinity for period films. After Atonement, Silk and The Duchess, she is currently in negotiations to play in The Beautiful and the Damned.
Based on a novel by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, the film tells a love story between two writers, one being Zelda Sayre, to be portrayed by Knightley. Their story takes place during the 1920s.
Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook, Alpha Dog) will direct the project that is scheduled to begin shooting in April 2009.
Until then, Keira Knightley will also be filming Last Night in New York next month. Additionally, the actress is also part of the cast for the film King Lear, opening in theatres in 2010.
