Music-News reports that Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has not touched a drop of alcohol for four months.
A source close to the 66-year old rocker says, ”There’s no guarantees that he’ll stay off it – but he’s doing really well so far. He has always quite enjoyed the fact that he seemed to be able to carry on drinking as much as he liked with no real negative impact on his health.”
It appears Richards decided to give up booze after watching his bandmate Ronnie Wood start drinking again which led to lots of problems in his personal life.
Wood split from his common law wife of 23 years to start a relationship with 21-year old Ekaterina Ivanova. They, too, have since gone their separate ways.
The source adds, ”He has watched Ronnie fall well and truly off the wagon last year and he doesn’t like what he sees. Plus he has started to feel for the first time like it might do him some good to give up the booze for a while.”
Richards announced last September that he was heading into the studio this year to record another Rolling Stones album.
