The musician who has played with the Rolling Stones for 40 years recently made a suprise announcement that he and drugs are finished. Richards explained that he has based his decision not on health reasons, but rather due to the fact that drugs don’t work for him any longer.
"I think the quality’s gone down. All they do is try and take the high out of everything," he told Q Magazine.
"I don’t like the way drugs now are working on your brain area instead of just through the blood stream. That’s why I don’t take any of them anymore."
The 62 year-old man was hospitalised at the beginning of the year after an accidental fall in Fiji. He then underwent surgery. Richards said of his hospitalisation, "I’ve had a couple of weeks on morphine. I did try to squeeze a little bit more out of the night nurse. She was very accommodating."
