Kelly Clarkson wants ‘tone deaf’ daughter

Kelly Clarkson hopes her daughter River Rose grows up to be ”anything” but a musician.

Kelly Clarkson hopes her daughter is ”tone deaf”.

The ‘Stronger’ hitmaker doesn’t want nine-month-old River Rose – her first child with husband Brandon Blackstock – to follow in her musical footsteps and admits she would rather the youngster chose to do ”anything” else when she grows up.

She said: ”I hope she’s tone deaf and [becomes] anything else – a social worker, a lawyer, anything else.”

The 32-year-old singer – whose single ‘Miss Independent’ landed her her first Grammy nomination in 2004 – loves the fact her daughter is a ”free spirit” but joked she and her husband don’t get to have many moments of affection with the baby.

She told Radio Disney in a forthcoming interview: ”River is not a cuddler. I legitimately had ‘Miss Independent’.

”She is the happiest baby on the planet, but when it’s nap time, bedtime, she’s like, ‘Put me down. I want to lay flat. I want to roll on my own.’

”My husband, last night, was so excited because she was falling asleep while we were feeding her, so he picked her up and we were taking so many pictures … we have no pictures of her sleeping in our arms. She’s a little free spirit already.”

Kelly is adamant she and Brandon will never allow River to sleep in their bed with them.

She explained: ”A friend of mine was like, ‘Our kid sleeps with us every night; it’s this whole new way of life,’ which is great for her.

”But in my world, we’re sleeping. I don’t want my kid rolling over and hitting me in the face. That’s not good sleep.”
