Kendrick Lamar isn’t motivated by money

Kendrick Lamar isn’t motivated by money – despite being tipped to become one of the wealthiest rappers in the world.

The ‘Swimming Pools’ rapper has been named in The World’s Highest Paid Hip-Hop Artists 2013 List by the financial magazine Forbes for reportedly raking in $9 million over the past year following the success of his debut album ‘Good Kid M.A.A.D City’.

However, Kendrick insists he isn’t ready to boost his earnings with endorsements and sponsorships.

He said: ”I haven’t really put my focus on anything else; I’m a fairly new artist, I want to focus on the music.”

The 25-year-old earned more than $4 million from tours alone after playing over 100 shows last financial year, but claims he won’t be tempted to make career decisions based on financial gain.

He explained: ”When you’re in this situation with all the lights on you, you’re going to get a lot of offers thrown at you, but if it’s not something that you see has longevity in it, you have to pass it up.”

Kendrick claims Dr. Dre – who executive produced his debut album after masterminding the careers of Eminem and 50 Cent – taught him how to be business savvy.

He added to Forbes.com: ”On the business end, [he] showed me: always be critical and smart about the moves you make. All money aint good money.”
